Hello! I am Dr. Kyle Grimes, the founder and wholly independent developer of Influential Lyrics. After earning an undergraduate degree in English from Dartmouth College and a Masters and PhD from the University of Illinois, I taught undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in poetry and poetics for nearly 40 years. I have published extensively in academic journals focusing especially on the works of the British romantic poets and on the lesser-known parodist and antiquarian, William Hone. As of the summer of 2024, I have “retired”–but this has provided me with the time and focus to develop this podcast! I hope you find it helpful, and I hope especially that you’ll find a few poems that resonate with you!
